A custom handmade hardwood jewelry box made from solid mahogany. The jewelry box is 9" high, 12" wide and 8" deep.
The top opens, see photo below on the left, to reveal a fixed draw. There are also three sliding draws, each with a different partition layout. These are shown below on the right.
Draw bottoms are oak plywood and the strip of wood just above the three sliding draws is walnut. The rest is solid 1/2" mahogany except for the draw partitions that are 1/4". All hardware is solid brass. The top hinges on 95 degree stop hinges so that it will remain open without holding.
The three sliding draws each have a different partition layout. Each has a total interior dimensions of 9.5" long, 6" wide and 1" deep. The image on the right shows two of the draws partly open. The draws can be removed and inserted in any order.
The finish is three coats of Minwax Wipe-On Poly clear stain, a low luster polyurethane protection finish, plus a final coat of Old Masters Gel Varnish, to seal the mahogany. If desired, for a small additional charge, I can give the finish a higher luster by using J. E. Moser's Rottenstone after the last varnish coat.
